Dr. A K Venkatachalam is a graduate of Kilpauk Medical College, Chennai. He served a short service commission in the Army medical corps. He completed his post graduate studies in Orthopaedics from the national board (DNB) and MS Ortho from Delhi University’s Safdarjang hospital.

He worked in the UK from 1993 to 1997 as a registrar and senior registrar in Orthopaedics, where he gained a wide exposure in all sub-specialties of orthopedics like pediatric orthopaedics, spine surgery, hand surgery, joint replacement, arthroscopic surgery and sports medicine. He obtained the FRCS and MCh Orth from the University of Liverpool.

On return to India, he started off as a Consultant at St. Stephen’s hospital, New Delhi. Subsequently he began his private practice in Chennai and worked at the Apollo hospitals and Sundaram medical foundation. He took a break from Chennai and moved on to the Middle East where he headed the Department of Orthopaedics at a regional referral hospital in Oman and then went on to work in Dubai.

He again returned to India in 2004 and set up his private clinic 'Knee & shoulder clinic' in Besant Nagar, and is attached to Venkateswara and Malar hospitals, Chennai. He has several publications to his credit, including articles in the lay press and the Internet.

His current areas of interest in knee surgery are total knee replacement (TKR), cartilage surgery, ACL/PCL reconstruction, knee cap problems, osteotomy for knee deformities, and internal fixation of knee fractures. In the shoulder he deals with instability, impingement, shoulder stiffness, fractures and dislocations and arthritis. Mr Martin Elsner MD is a Consultant Plastic, Reconstructive and Aesthetic Surgeon. He is an internationally trained, recognised and renowned consultant plastic surgeon who is registered as a specialist Plastic Surgeon by the General Medical Council in London (Specialist Registration Number 4236870), the Medical Council in Hamburg, Germany and the Medical Council in Vienna, Austria.

His training was solely in University and Teaching hospitals, such as Guy’s and St. Thomas’s, London, The Royal London Hospital, St Bart’s, Chelsea and the Westminster Hospital, as well as international university departments of Plastic Surgery.

During his training and further education Mr. Martin Elsner was able to work alongside the very best international plastic and cosmetic surgery experts. From this he has developed his own techniques, view and best practice in cosmetic surgery. His speciality is breast and facial surgery and ear correction.

He has taught plastic surgery and anatomy in the UK, Germany, New Zealand and Turkey. He started in general and orthopaedic surgery in 1993 and since 1996 has worked in plastic surgery, performing breast augmentation, reduction and reconstruction surgery including microsurgery. Mr. Elsner has worked for Interplast, a social organisation for developing countries in Turkey.

He became accredited as a consultant plastic surgeon in 2002 at the Medical Chamber in Vienna, Austria and at the Medical Chamber in Hamburg, Germany where he started his own private practice, treating NHS patients as well private patients. Mr. Elsner is a known plastic and aesthetic surgeon in Europe with experience across most of the spectrum of cosmetic surgery. He has been working as a consultant plastic and aesthetic surgeon in Germany since 2002 and the UK and is on the Specialist Register as a consultant plastic surgeon in London since 2004.

He works mainly in London, where he lives, and has practice privileges as a Consultant Plastic Surgeon with several UK hospitals including the BMI London Independent Hospital and the Belvedere Hospital in South East London, where he also consults his patients. Both hospitals are accepted and regulated by the Health Care Commission.

He also has practice privileges as a Plastic Surgeon in Germany and Austria, and performs operations once a month in the small but excellent and very personal clinic in Hamburg.
